TSA Travel and Security Tips: TSA Precheck, REAL ID
The Transportation Security Administration(TSA) is the federal agency responsible for securing U.S. transportation systems. Formed shortly following the tragedies of September 11, the agency is part of the Department of Homeland Security. Along with assistance from the Airport Operations and City Of Williston Police, the TSA at Williston oversees the security and safety of everyone working or traveling through the Williston Airport.

TSA PreCheck
As part of this program, you may receive the benefit of no longer removing the following items:
Starting May 3, 2023 , every U.S. citizen will need to present a REAL ID -compliant license/ID, or other acceptable form of identification, to board commercial aircraft. Airports are considered federal facilities, and therefore the REAL ID Act affects your ability to board a commercial flight.
History :
Passed by Congress in 2005, the REAL ID Act was passed to “set standards for the issuance of sources of identification, such as driver's licenses.” The act established minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards, and it prohibits federal agencies from accepting licenses and identification cards from states that do not meet these standards for official purposes.
What Does a REAL ID Look Like?
In most states, there is a gold or black star on the front of the driver's license that will signify compliance. If you see this, you're already good to go! Several states have been granted an extension and residents may not have REAL IDs yet, so be sure to check your license.
What if I Don't Have a Real ID-Compliant License by the Deadline?
You don't have to upgrade your license to board your flight, but you will have to use an alternative (TSA-approved) form of ID.
